Malcolm Yuill-Thornton
started his career in theatre consulting after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design from the University of California at Berkeley.  During his tenure as a production design student, he was awarded the Eisner Prize "for creative achievement of the highest order in Dramatic Art (scenic design)."  During a fifteen year period following graduation, he was involved in the design and construction of over fifty performing arts facilities starting as a draughtsman and rising to the position of Vice President of an internationally renowned theatre consulting firm.
While on a parental sabbatical, he worked with a prominent San Francisco architect on residential projects.  This "apprenticeship" in the world of residential design led to his first commission in Napa county for an agricultural barn and wine making facility, a two bedroom residence, and a pool and cabaña.
Co-founding Dragonfly Farm and the establishment of an organic market garden led to a term as statewide president of California Certified Organic Farmers.  After his short-lived political career, he worked as a real estate developer in the Portland Metro Area.  Returning to design and construction during this period provided him with the opportunity  to work closely with the governmental agencies charged with the enforcement of Oregon's landmark statewide planning code.

In the mid 1990's he returned to residential design, working on both remodels and new home construction in the Healdsburg and Santa Rosa areas.  The projects in the accompanying photos represent his most recent work.
